Interests
This is kind of a tough thing to describe, without the readers’ eyes glazing over. “I like reading, hiking, and listening to music…,” yuck! Well, I will try and not bore you to death; but I actually do like all of those previously mentioned activities. Anyway, here goes.
I love travelling, when I have the time and money. I will be going to visit my mother in January who has moved back to Puerto Rico in retirement. We will then be going to South America on a "bucket list" tour of sorts. Her because she is 75 years young…and me because the stress of the current job situation is killing me. I have been through the dot com downturn and this most recent economic cataclysm. Anyway, I am really looking forward to South America!

We will be going to Argentina, Chile and Peru. I am really looking forward to seeing Machu Pichu!!!
As you can see from the photos below, I am into salsa dancing. My mom is Puerto Rican. I lived in Puerto Rico for a year in high school and was really embarrassed that I could not dance salsa. Now in my forties, I have finally mustered the courage to take classes and am finally a good salsa dancer.

One of my fairly recent favorite movies was Pineapple Express. It reminded me of growing up in Berkeley. A lot of pretty funny, whacked out people. Another movie that I enjoyed even more was Mad Hot Ballroom, about kids learning how to dance in a public school program. It is really touching, funny and warm hearted.

My most recent book is The Brief Wonderous Life of Oscar Wao, by Junot Diaz. A really funny and informative book about latino life in the US and the Dominican Republic. As a literature major in college, I have read widely, from Bhagavad Gita to the Bible and from Proust to Richard Wright, I love them all!
Finally, I really do love hiking. I go hiking in the East Bay hills whenever I have the time and energy.
